5G VALLEY OPEN TESTBED COOPERATION PROTOCOL WAS SIGNED
The President of Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan speaking at signature ceremony of “5G Valley Open Testbed Cooperation Protocol” said, “We crown our 17th year with the “5G Valley Open Testbed.” Our target as ICTA; to make our country also exist in this race as one of the first countries that have met with 5G in the world, and in doing so to carry our country from the position of consumer to producer.
The “5G Valley Open Testbed Cooperation Protocol” was signed with all parties at the 17th anniversary event of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority. The signing ceremony was held at ICTA central building; President of METU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök, President of Hacettepe University Prof. Dr. A. Haluk Özen, President of İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University Prof. Dr. Abdullah Atalar, Vodafone General Manager Colman Deegan, Turk Telekom Executive Vice President Cengiz Doğan and Turkcell General Manager Kaan Terzioğlu attended.
WE CROWNED OUR 17th YEAR WITH "5G VALLEY OPEN TESTBED"
Sayan stating that they crowned the 17th year of ICTA with "5G Valley Open Testbed" noted that our target as ICTA to make our country also exist in this race as one of the first countries that have met with 5G in the world, and in doing so to carry our country from the position of consumer to producer. With the signing of the "5G Valley Open Testbed Cooperation Protocol" in line with these targets, the project of creating the open test field where the R&D, P&D tests and tests needed for 5G and beyond can be done is passed on. Thus, as ICTA in the framework of the aim to become one of the earliest countries passing 5G mobile communication technology with the highest possible level of nationality and domesticity, we will have achieved a significant phase in the work of establishing 5G and beyond ecosystems.”
5G VALLEY OPEN TESTBED PROVIDES SOLUTIONS FOR MANY FIELDS
Sayan pointed out that with the project of “5G Valley Open Testbed”, it would be developed services, products and applications that would provide solutions for many industries, especially communication, urbanism, transportation, health and energy in settlements.at Hacettepe University Beytepe Campus, İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University campuses, techno-parks, ICTA center and laboratory building, city hospitals, shopping malls and other big public buildings. He said, “this field includes not only the communication sector, but also the sectors such as information, entertainment, health, energy, transportation and agriculture, which are called vertical industries, where communication technologies with 5G and beyond are used more and more.
R&D, P&D TESTS OF 5G AND BEYOND WILL BE DONE
Sayan cited the innovations in cooperation with the 5G Valley, ICTA, universities and operators: There will be an infrastructure where R&D, P&D tests of 5g and beyond will be done. Anyone who produces technology on 5G, such as academics, researchers, doctoral students and start-ups, will benefit from this open testing environment. 5G Valley Open Testbed will enable new R&D opportunities for all stakeholders in the electronic communications industry. Testbed will contribute to employment by carrying out effective research and projects in the context of public-university-operator-industry collaborations and creating high employment opportunities that add value to the ecosystem.”
